The Minister of Finance, H.E. Ms. Louis Paul MOTAZE, is driving a digital transformation in microfinance by introducing a central integrated platform (CIMP) that connects microfinance institutions, payment providers, mobile money operators and banks. This innovative system, using tools such as a common USSD platform, mobile wallet, agency banking, prepaid cards and payment gateways, will improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality, strengthen financial inclusion, facilitate access to credit and contribute to poverty reduction.
The Director of the Treasury, Ms. MOH TANGONGHO Sylvester, envisions the Supervision and Surveillance Portal as an essential digital tool for effective microfinance supervision. It will provide real-time data to monitor the financial health, operations and compliance of microfinance institutions, enabling fluid supervision, risk assessment and early detection of problems. This portal will strengthen transparency, accountability and regulatory oversight, protecting the integrity of microfinance, promoting good governance and benefiting low-income populations.
